Before I came to Chile Ale and I were sending e-mails back and forth. Because I knew very little Spanish I used a translating website to translate my e-mails before I sent them. Well, in one of them I wrote that I wanted to work with people that have drug addictions. That got translated into saying that I have a drug addiction! The whole family was very concerned and Ale and Hugo met with the housing coordinator from the school. There was a special meeting about it. It was so funny! They figured that since the other e-mails were just a little bit off that it was probably a translation error, but they were still very nervous. They were scared that I would come home in the middle of the night all strung out and try to murder everybody. Hugo said that it was probably a translation problem once he realized that I don't drink alcohol or coffee. I guess it is not everyday that a person turns down coffee and picks up the crack pipe. The councilor from the school said that he would check into things a little more but he thought that it was not quite what it seemed and that they wouldn't allow me to come if that were the case. He said that he was sure we would be sitting around one day and it would come up and we would all get a good laugh out of it. Well, it came up at lunch today! I couldn't stop laughing. Of course I was scared and anxious to meet them and figure out where I would be living and who my new people were, but they were even more scared because they thought they might be meeting the person that would try to murder them! Fortunatily, they now know for sure that I want to work with people with drug problems and not be one. They were joking today that since I don't seem to be on drugs that I must just sell them. Can you imagine? I get scared trying to hide during hide-and-go-seek! Hiding from the police and drug dealers would give me a nervous breakdown!!

It is now finals week of the second Summer session. Time is flying by so quickly. It feels like everyother day I am understanding people and then the next I am lost completely and alone in my english speaking head. Everyone keeps telling me that as soon as you dream in Spanish that is when you know you are really diving into the language. Well, I can't remember my dreams, so I am just going to assume that I am diving in. jejeje. Maybe next I can assume that I know the language and it will work! If only!
