Official

My passport came on Friday and I have booked my plane ticket. It is official, I am going to Chile! The Utah State Study Abroad office offers a program to live with a Chilean family and go to school and experience life as a semi-actual native. I have always thought that traveling would be fun but way too expensive and out of the question for me. But I have been blessed and some people have helped me along and it has become a reality! I still kind of don't believe it. I think it will sink in when I am surrounded by people that do not speak English and I can't find the bathroom.

My plan is to come back to the United States being able to at least have a grasp on the Spanish language. Seven months is probably not long enough to become fluent... but here is to hoping! I am excited to live with a family there too. I know I am kind of hard for my own family to take sometimes, so hopefully they can put up with me there. Chileans are such a welcoming and caring people that I am hoping to gain a second family from this experience.

I am have a couple final tests left to go this week and then after that everything is preparation for the trip. Does anybody have any suggestions for packing or for sight seeing or for living in a foreign country or anything else? Thanks for all your help in getting me here!

This is a map of where I will be staying. I don't know which city for sure yet, but I will either be in Valparaiso or Vina del Mar.
